The Crown brake cam lever is the arm that rotates the cam and spreads the shoes against the drum on Crown lift trucks. It fixes to the cam shaft, so its length and angle set the leverage the operator's input gets multiplied by. A worn pivot bore or a sloppy fit shows up as lost travel and a spongy pedal, and replacing the lever tightens that connection back up.
Every brake application pulls on the Crown brake cam lever, the arm that rotates the cam and spreads the shoes against the drum. At about three ounces it is a small forged or stamped steel arm, and because every application loads it in the same direction, a worn pivot bore or a sloppy fit at the cam shaft shows up as lost travel and a spongy pedal. Replacing the lever tightens that connection back up so the full stroke of the linkage reaches the cam. Keeping the lever and cam matched preserves the braking geometry the assembly was built around.
