Built to Crown's freezer, or cold-storage, specification, this Crown axle serves as a load-bearing pivot in the lift linkage, carrying rollers, links, or wheels while letting them rotate under load. The freezer variant is intended for trucks working in refrigerated and low-temperature environments, where materials and clearances have to hold up to the cold.

In its position in the linkage, the axle transmits load through the joint and has to resist bending and wear at its journal surfaces through repeated cycles. As those surfaces wear and clearances open, the joint develops play, and a new axle restores the original fit and protects the bushings and rollers riding on it.

Match the replacement by its overall length and journal diameters against the axle coming out, and confirm the freezer specification applies to your truck, since a standard and a freezer axle can share a position while differing in build.
