The Yale steering encoder is a position sensor that reports steer angle to the control system on Yale electric lift trucks. It tracks the steered position and feeds it back to the controller, which is what makes electronic power steering precise and repeatable. As a signal device it fails electronically, sending a wrong or dropped signal that shows up as erratic steering, a steer fault, or lost power steering.
The Yale steering encoder is a position sensor that reports steer angle to the control system on Yale electric lift trucks. On an electric-steer truck the encoder tracks the steered position and feeds it back to the controller so the truck knows which way the wheel is pointed and can command the steer motor accurately, which is what makes electronic power steering precise and repeatable.
Because it is a signal device, the encoder fails electronically rather than mechanically. A faulty encoder sends a wrong or dropped signal, and the truck responds with erratic steering, a steer fault, or a loss of power steering, since the controller can no longer trust the angle it reads. Replacing the encoder restores accurate steer feedback.
Forklifts Etc. supplies it as the replacement steering encoder for the Yale application.
