Spring-applied, electrically released holding brake for Yale electric lift trucks: with no power the internal spring clamps the brake and holds the truck, and energizing the electromagnet pulls the friction plate clear so the drive can turn. That fail-safe action makes it the parking and emergency brake, setting automatically whenever power is cut.
The Yale electromagnetic brake is an electrically released holding brake used on Yale electric lift trucks. It is a spring-applied, electrically released design: with no power the internal spring clamps the brake and holds the truck, and when the truck is energized the electromagnet pulls the friction plate clear so the drive can turn. That fail-safe action is why it also serves as the parking and emergency brake, setting automatically whenever power is cut.
The brake wears through its friction surface and its coil. As the friction disc wears, holding force drops and the brake can slip or set slowly, and a failing coil may not release cleanly, leaving the brake dragging. Either condition calls for replacement to keep the truck holding and releasing correctly.
Forklifts Etc. carries it as the replacement electromagnetic brake for the Yale application.
