Potentimeter – SW-1553

A potentiometer sets a variable resistance that the truck's control system reads as a position or speed input, converting the movement of a lever, pedal, or steering element into an electrical signal the controller acts on. In material handling equipment this style of sensor commonly sits behind a throttle, an accelerator, or a steering feedback point, where smooth, repeatable resistance across its full sweep is what keeps travel and lift response predictable.

Wear shows up as an erratic reading or a dead spot in the signal, jerky response, or a control that no longer tracks the operator's input evenly, the point at which replacing the potentiometer restores clean, linear control. Sold as a direct replacement for the worn unit, it drops back into the same control circuit it came out of and returns the steady feedback the system was tuned around. Match the sensor to the resistance range and shaft or lever fit of the unit it replaces, since a potentiometer has to sweep the same span the controller expects.
