This internal retaining ring seats in a groove inside a bore on lift trucks to axially locate and hold a bearing or component within its housing. It springs outward into that groove to form a shoulder that keeps the retained part from sliding out of the bore under load and vibration. It is replaced whenever it is removed for service or has lost spring tension.
