Retaining Ring – W-425-I

Seating in a machined groove inside a bore, this internal retaining ring holds a bearing or other component in place within its housing on lift trucks. It springs outward into the groove to form a shoulder, and that shoulder is what keeps the retained part from sliding out of the bore under the load and vibration of normal operation.

An internal ring works only while it holds its spring tension, so it is replaced whenever it is removed for service or when it has relaxed and no longer snaps fully into its groove. Match the bore diameter and groove dimensions to the ring being replaced, since an internal ring has to spring tightly into the correct groove to seat and hold; a ring sized to the wrong bore will not retain the part.
