Sleeve – E-8824

A sleeve fits over a shaft or pin, or inside a bore, to provide a renewable wear surface, a spacer, or a protective liner at the point where two parts move or seat against each other. It takes the friction, scoring, and wear that would otherwise attack the more expensive or harder-to-replace component beneath it, which is the reason a sleeve exists as a separate, serviceable part.

In a bearing or bushing position a sleeve gives the rotating or sliding member a controlled surface to ride on; as a spacer it sets and holds a fixed distance between components; as a liner it shields the bore or shaft from direct contact. Whatever the role, it is a straightforward replacement item, renewed when it wears thin, scores, loosens in its seat, or loses the fit that positions the parts around it.

Match the inside diameter, the outside diameter, and the length to the sleeve being replaced so the new one presses into the same seat, rides on the same shaft, and holds the same position, since a sleeve wrong in any of these dimensions will not locate correctly.
