This UniCarriers grease nipple delivers grease to a lubrication point on UniCarriers equipment through a spring-loaded check ball that opens when a grease gun is applied and seals afterward. UniCarriers supplies it as a threaded grease nipple, also called a zerk fitting, fitted at bushings, pivots, and other serviced joints.
A spring-loaded check ball inside this UniCarriers grease nipple opens to admit grease when a grease gun is pressed onto it, then reseats to seal the passage and keep the charge in and contaminants out. Also called a zerk fitting, it threads into a bushing, a pivot, or another serviced joint to give a grease gun a fixed coupling point at that lubrication port.
The fitting is renewed when the check ball sticks, the seat leaks, or the coupling face is damaged so a gun will no longer seat and pump cleanly. Match the thread size and the stem angle, whether straight, 45 degree, or 90 degree, to the fitting being replaced, since the angle sets how the gun can reach the port in tight quarters.
