UniCarriers and Nissan engine thermostat for K21, K25, H15, H20, H20-2, and H25 forklift engines, opening at 170 degrees F to regulate coolant flow and hold operating temperature. A stuck thermostat causes overheating or slow warm-up. Replaced to restore correct engine temperature control.
A wax element inside this thermostat keeps it closed while a cold engine warms, then opens to route coolant through the radiator, which is how the engine reaches and holds its designed operating temperature. It regulates coolant flow for the Nissan engines used in UniCarriers and other forklifts, carried under Nissan number 21200-50K00.
It fits the Nissan K21 and K25 gas engines and the H15, H20, and H25 engine family used across these trucks. A thermostat fails by sticking: stuck closed, it blocks coolant and the engine overheats; stuck open, coolant circulates constantly and the engine runs cold and never reaches temperature. The wax element also fatigues with age and stops responding at the right point, which is why a thermostat is a routine replacement when cooling problems point to it.
Confirm the engine model against the K21, K25, or H-series application, since the thermostat has to match the housing and the opening temperature the engine was built around.
