Industrial battery for material-handling equipment, supplying traction power to electric lift trucks. Sold 100 to a pack for fleet battery service, these screw-on vent caps thread into the cells of flooded lead-acid industrial batteries, sealing the electrolyte in while venting the gas each cell produces during charging. Each cap threads onto a cell opening and comes off for the routine checks flooded batteries need: reading electrolyte level, adding water, and taking specific-gravity readings.
A cap that seals properly keeps electrolyte and its acid mist contained and keeps dirt and debris out of the cell, both of which protect the plates and the surrounding equipment. Caps are replaced when they crack, lose their thread, or stop seating, since a cap that no longer seals lets electrolyte escape and contamination in. Buying them in a 100-count pack matches the way a fleet maintains many multi-cell batteries at once.
