Crown Contactor Coil and Magnet – CR127710

The electromagnetic actuator at the heart of a Crown contactor, this coil and magnet body supplies the winding and magnetic frame that pull the main contacts closed when the coil is energized. Applying voltage to the coil builds the magnetic field that moves the armature and seats the contacts, so this assembly directly governs whether the contactor makes its circuit and holds it closed.

Because the coil is the part that does the pulling, its condition decides whether the contactor works at all. A coil that has gone open or shorted can no longer generate the field to pull the armature in, so the contactor fails to actuate even when its contacts are still serviceable. That makes the coil and magnet body a common replacement when a Crown contactor stops closing, restoring the pull-in force the switch depends on.

Match the coil voltage to the truck's control system and the frame to the contactor being serviced, since a coil wound for the wrong voltage will either fail to pull in or overheat, and a frame sized to a different contactor will not seat the armature against the correct contacts.
