Raymond builds this AC motor for its electric lift trucks, where it converts three-phase current from the truck's controller into the rotating force that drives the wheels or turns the hydraulic pump. AC design is the reason it runs the way it does: with no commutator and no carbon brushes to wear down and arc, there is nothing inside making sliding contact, so the motor holds its output over long duty cycles and asks less of the maintenance schedule than an older brush-type motor.

The controller manages speed and torque electronically by varying frequency, which gives smooth acceleration and lets the motor regenerate during braking. When an AC motor reaches the end of its life it is usually the bearings or the winding insulation that go, not brushes, so a replacement restores full drive or pump performance to the truck.

Match the motor to the one being replaced by its mounting, shaft, and electrical connections so it mates to the existing controller and driveline.
