Raymond equips its electric lift trucks with a dedicated battery charger sized to match the truck's onboard battery pack, converting incoming AC power into the regulated DC current the battery needs to recharge safely after a shift. Rather than delivering a flat current for the whole cycle, a charger built for lift truck service follows a staged charging profile, pushing higher current early in the cycle and tapering off as the battery approaches full charge to avoid overcharging the cells.

At 22 pounds, it is a self-contained unit that mounts on or near the truck rather than requiring a separate charging room installation, letting the truck charge in its normal parking or staging area between shifts. Consistent, correctly profiled charging is what keeps a deep-cycle traction battery reaching full capacity shift after shift instead of chronically undercharging, which shortens plate life and cuts run time over the life of the battery.

A charger that stops communicating with the battery, fails to reach full charge, or shuts down early signals that the charging electronics themselves have failed rather than the battery, and replacing the charger restores the full charging cycle the battery pack depends on.
