An electric motor turns battery power into the rotation that drives a lift truck function, whether that is traction at the wheels, the hydraulic pump that raises the load, or the power steering circuit, depending on where it mounts in the truck. This unit restores that mechanical output once the original has lost torque, begun drawing excess current, overheated, or stopped turning.

Inside, current through the windings creates the rotating field that spins the armature and delivers torque to the shaft, while brushes and a commutator, or the equivalent switching in a brushless design, keep that rotation driven under load. Motors accumulate wear where it counts: bearings develop play, brushes wear down and arc, and insulation breaks down under heat and vibration, all of which show up as weak drive, high current draw, or a motor that stalls.

Motors of a similar physical size differ in voltage, mounting, shaft, and duty rating, so match the voltage, the frame and mount pattern, and the shaft diameter and length to the motor being removed. Matching those against the unit coming out is what separates a true replacement from one that only looks the same on the bench.
