400 Amp Fuse – ANL-400

Rated at 400 amps, this ANL-style bolt-down fuse protects a high-current DC circuit by bolting directly to its terminals rather than clipping into a holder, the connection method that lets it carry heavy continuous current without heating at the contacts. ANL fuses are a standard choice for battery and power-distribution circuits on electric equipment, where a clip-in fuse could not handle the amperage.

The 400 amp rating sets the current the fuse carries continuously before it opens on an overload or short, protecting downstream cabling and components from a fault that would otherwise run unchecked. Bolt-down construction also keeps the fuse in place under the vibration that would shake a lighter fuse loose. Match the amperage and the bolt spacing to the holder already in the circuit, since an ANL fuse has to seat flat on both studs to carry its rating.
