Crown Traction Potentiometer Kit – CR140745-001

Crown builds this standard traction potentiometer kit for the traction circuit on its electric lift trucks. A traction potentiometer is a variable resistor tied to the accelerator or travel control; as the operator commands more or less speed, the wiper arm moves across the resistive element, and the changing resistance becomes the electrical signal the truck's controller reads to set drive motor output.

Because the controller trusts that signal completely, a potentiometer that wears or drifts out of calibration translates directly into how the truck drives. Worn internal contacts produce jerky acceleration, inconsistent speed control, or a truck that hesitates or surges instead of responding smoothly and proportionally to operator input. These symptoms are often mistaken for a controller fault when the potentiometer itself is the point of failure.

Packaged as a kit rather than a single sensor, it installs as a direct replacement in the traction control assembly and gives a technician what is needed to complete the swap in one job rather than sourcing components separately.
