Raymond accelerator potentiometer that translates the operator's throttle or travel-control movement into a variable electrical signal the motor controller reads to set speed, giving the truck smooth, proportional acceleration rather than an on-off response. As the operator commands more speed, the potentiometer's changing resistance tells the controller how much power to deliver.

A worn accelerator pot develops dead spots, erratic output, or drift as its resistive track wears, which shows up as jerky travel, surging, or a truck that will not modulate smoothly, and replacing it restores clean throttle control. Because it is a control-input part, its accuracy directly governs how the truck drives. Match the potentiometer's resistance value, shaft or linkage arrangement, and connector to the original so it reads correctly to the controller and mounts to the throttle mechanism as the old unit did.
