The Toyota distributor rotor button routes high-voltage ignition spark from the coil to each cylinder in Toyota forklift ignition systems. As a wear item, its contact tip erodes and can carbon-track over time, causing misfire and hard starting. It is replaced along with the distributor cap at a tune-up to restore clean, reliable spark distribution across the plug leads.
Inside the distributor of a Toyota forklift ignition, this rotor button is the spinning contact that hands the high-voltage spark from the coil to each spark plug lead in turn, distributing fire to the cylinders in the engine's firing order as the shaft rotates. It is a small part carrying a big voltage, and everything downstream of it depends on that hand-off staying clean.
A distributor rotor is a wear item by design. Its contact tip erodes a little with every spark and can build carbon tracks over time, and once that happens the spark starts jumping or leaking instead of transferring cleanly, showing up as misfire, rough running, and hard starting. Because the rotor and the distributor cap wear together, they are replaced as a pair at a tune-up to restore even, reliable spark distribution across all cylinders.
Forklifts Etc. supplies it as the Toyota distributor rotor button, a direct replacement for the eroded rotor coming out of the cap.
