Sensing when the brake is applied, this switch signals the truck's electrical system accordingly, typically cutting drive power, triggering a brake or warning circuit, or enabling a function allowed only while the brake is set. Mounted at the brake pedal or lever, it opens or closes its contacts as the brake moves, so its condition determines whether the truck reliably knows the brake state. A brake switch fails by worn or burned contacts and by a broken actuator or plunger, showing up as a drive interlock that will not release, a function that no longer responds to the brake, or intermittent operation. Replacing it restores dependable switching of the brake circuit. Match the contact configuration, actuation style, and mounting to the switch being replaced, since brake switches vary in how they mount and how they are tripped.
