The control system reads that resistance change and can act on it, backing off or shutting down before heat does damage.

Supplied as a complete assembly rather than a bare element, it installs as a direct sensing unit inside the electrical system and provides thermal protection across repeated duty cycles. A PTC device is well suited to this role because its resistance curve turns steep right at the temperatures that matter, giving the controller a clear threshold to watch. A failed thermistor can leave a component unprotected or trigger false thermal faults.
