Set into the fluid path, a panel filter traps grit, wear metal, and other contaminants before they reach the components downstream, protecting the pump, valves, and cylinders from the abrasive particles that circulate in a working system. The flat panel element seats in its housing so all flow passes through the media rather than around it.

Filtration is a scheduled-replacement job rather than a wait-for-failure one. As the media loads up with debris, flow restriction rises, and a filter left in past its interval either chokes flow or opens its bypass and lets unfiltered fluid straight through, which is when contaminants start accelerating wear on everything downstream.

Match the filter to its housing and to the system it serves, confirming the outer dimensions and the filtration rating against the element being replaced, since a panel that is the wrong size will not seal in the frame and a coarser rating lets finer particles pass.
