Raymond built this pressure control valve to regulate hydraulic pressure within the lift truck's working circuit, capping the system at its set point so the pump, hoses, and cylinders never see more force than they are rated to handle. In practice it holds the lift and reach functions to a consistent, predictable pressure, which keeps load handling smooth and shields the rest of the hydraulic system from spikes.

A pressure control valve is a wear-sensitive part.
