Oil Seal – SE-211

An oil seal rides against a rotating shaft to keep lubricant sealed inside a housing while blocking dirt, water, and grit from working their way in past the shaft. Its flexible sealing lip is the wear point: as the lip hardens or grooves, oil begins to seep past it and contamination reaches the bearing or gear it was protecting, which is the usual reason for the replacement.

Renewing the seal restores that barrier and protects the more expensive components behind it. Because seals that look similar differ in the dimensions that decide the fit, match the replacement to the one being removed by inside diameter, outside diameter, and width, and by lip style, so it presses into the bore square and seals against the shaft.
