This Woodruff key is manufactured for Crown lift trucks and carries a Crown part number, a crescent-shaped piece of hardware that fits into a matching semicircular slot cut into a shaft to lock a gear, pulley, or hub against rotating independently of the shaft. Unlike a straight key, the curved shape of a Woodruff key allows it to seat and align itself automatically in tapered or stepped shaft applications, which is why this style is common in compact drive and linkage assemblies.
