Crown builds this standard potentiometer kit for the hydraulic control circuit on its electric lift trucks, where a wiper arm moving across a resistive element turns operator input into the variable signal the truck's controller reads. As the operator works the lift, tilt, or auxiliary control, the changing resistance tells the controller how far to modulate hydraulic response.

When this potentiometer wears or loses calibration, the controller is working from a signal it can no longer trust, and hydraulic functions feel the effect directly. Lift, tilt, or auxiliary movements can lag behind operator input, jump instead of ramping smoothly, or fail to modulate at partial throttle even though the pump and valves themselves are working correctly. Because the symptom shows up in hydraulic performance, it often gets chased as a valve or pump problem before the potentiometer is checked.
