Electric Brake – BP-2845

Rated as a heavier braking unit at about 21 pounds, this electric brake provides the powered stopping and holding function on Crown lift trucks, engaging and releasing through the truck's electrical system rather than a hydraulic or purely mechanical linkage. Its weight reflects a substantial actuating assembly built to hold a loaded truck and bring it to a controlled stop repeatedly through a shift.

Electric brakes of this type commonly work as spring-set, electrically released units, setting the brake when power is removed and releasing it when energized, which also makes them the parking and emergency hold on the machine. As the internal friction surfaces and actuating components wear, holding force drops and the brake grows slower to set or release, the point at which the unit is replaced.
