Coolant flow on a UniCarriers internal combustion lift truck is governed by this engine thermostat, a temperature-sensitive valve that stays closed while the engine is cold and opens once coolant reaches its rated temperature. Holding coolant in the block during warm-up brings the engine up to operating temperature quickly, then metering flow to the radiator keeps it in range through the working day.

That regulation is what protects the engine at both extremes. A thermostat stuck closed traps heat and drives the engine toward overheating, while one stuck open lets it run perpetually cold, which wastes fuel, accelerates wear, and prevents complete combustion. Built to UniCarriers specifications, this thermostat seats in the factory housing and opens at the intended set point, restoring correct temperature control.

Fit it during cooling system service, and replace the housing gasket at the same time so the new thermostat seals as the original did.
