Bussmann Fuse 400A 125VAC/80VDC – ANN-400

Bussmann builds this ANN-series fuse as a very fast acting current-limiting fuse rated at 400 amps, sized to protect the high-current DC circuits found in electric lift trucks. The ANN series carries a 125 volt AC and 80 volt DC rating and is engineered to open extremely quickly under a fault, clearing before a short can drive enough energy into downstream controllers, cabling, and power semiconductors to damage them.

That speed is the whole point of a limiter fuse. On an electric truck pulling hundreds of amps through a traction or pump circuit, a slower fuse lets fault current climb long enough to cook the components it is meant to guard. The 400 amp rating sets the continuous current the fuse carries without nuisance opening, while the fast-acting limiter design handles the short-circuit case. This fuse is used in Crown electric lift truck power circuits among other 400 amp applications.

Match the amperage and the physical body and terminal style to the holder already in the equipment, since a limiter fuse has to seat correctly on its studs to carry its rated current. Sold individually.
