Energized at 24 volts, this solenoid uses an electromagnetic coil to close a heavy-current contact, letting a low-power control signal switch the large currents a lift truck's circuits carry. The coil pulls the contact closed only while it is energized. Contacts are the wear point, pitting and burning from the arc drawn each time the circuit makes and breaks.

Energized at 24 volts, this solenoid uses an electromagnetic coil to close a heavy-current contact, letting a low-power control signal switch the large currents a lift truck's circuits carry. The coil pulls the contact closed only while it is energized, so the switching is commanded electrically rather than by a mechanical linkage.

Contacts are the wear point, pitting and burning from the arc drawn each time the circuit makes and breaks, until the solenoid no longer closes cleanly or drops out on command. Match the 24 volt coil rating and the contact rating to the circuit being serviced, since a coil wound for a different voltage will not pull in reliably.
