Retaining Ring – W-222-E

Seating in a groove on the outside of a shaft, this external E-style retaining ring axially locates and holds a bearing, wheel, or other component in place on lift truck assemblies. It springs into the groove and its shoulders bear against the part being retained, resisting the thrust that would otherwise let the component walk along the shaft.

Spring steel gives the ring the tension to stay seated under vibration and load, and the E-profile lets it snap on and off the groove during service. A ring that has lost tension, spread, or deformed no longer holds its seat and should be replaced whenever the joint is opened. Match the ring to the shaft groove diameter and width, since an undersized or oversized ring will not seat or retain correctly.
