Air trapped in a hydraulic or fluid circuit keeps the system from building and holding pressure the way it should, and this Yale vent valve gives that air a controlled path in or out so the circuit works as designed. It opens to relieve built-up pressure or admit air on demand, then reseals, holding the line at its intended working state through each cycle.
A vent valve is a small flow-control component, and its condition is easy to overlook until the circuit it serves starts behaving erratically. When the valve clogs, sticks, or leaks past its seat, it no longer vents cleanly, and pressure or air management in the circuit suffers. Installing a fresh unit restores proper venting and returns the system to its designed behavior.
