Axle Bushing Bronze – BR40253-FS000

Machined from bronze, this axle bushing rides between a shaft and its housing as a replaceable wear surface, giving the axle a hard, low-friction sleeve to turn against so the load falls on a cheap, swappable bearing rather than on the axle or the housing bore itself. Bronze is chosen here because it carries load, tolerates shock, and wears slowly against a steel shaft, and it is meant to be the sacrificial part renewed at service rather than the expensive component around it.

As the bushing wears, clearance opens up and the axle develops play, which is the signal it is time to press in a fresh one. Because a bushing is defined by its fit, match the inside diameter to the shaft and the outside diameter to the housing bore, so the new sleeve presses in tight and the shaft turns without slop.
