High-current switching inside a Raymond electric lift truck runs through a contactor like this 24 volt DC unit, which energizes an electromagnetic coil to close heavy-duty contacts and route battery power to a motor circuit. Rated for roughly a 100 amp load, it delivers the make-and-break action that electric drive and lift functions depend on while keeping the operator's low-current control circuit separated from the main power flow.

Contacts pit and erode from the arcing that comes with switching heavy current, and as they degrade the contactor can drop out, chatter, or fail to pass full current, which shows up as weak or intermittent drive and lift response. A fresh contactor restores clean, dependable switching.
