Wired between the controller and the motor, the reactor's coil resists rapid changes in current, so the waveform reaching downstream components stays steadier and cleaner than it would without the added impedance.

That steadier current does real protective work, easing electrical stress on contactors, transistors, and other switching parts and helping the controller run without the disturbances that shorten component life. The unit follows the General Electric control design used on Crown electric lift trucks, matching the inductance the system was engineered around. Replacing a failed or overheated reactor returns the control circuit to clean operation.
