A flanged bushing carries a rotating or sliding shaft on a low-friction sleeve, while its flange takes the thrust load a plain sleeve alone cannot, locating the part axially as well as radially. Pressed into its bore, it gives the shaft a replaceable wear surface so the housing itself does not wear, renewed when the bore opens up and play develops.
