The four-way porting feeds pressure to one side of the actuator while returning the other to tank, and the centered third position blocks or neutralizes flow so a function holds without drifting.
Directional valves like this run lift, tilt, and auxiliary hydraulic functions, and a failing one shows as a function that creeps, sticks, or will not shift. Match the port sizes, spool configuration, and 24 volt coil rating to the valve being replaced, since the spool center and voltage must match the circuit it controls.
