Raymond Bumper – RA-1051

Raymond builds this bumper as a replacement chassis part for its electric lift trucks, where it absorbs contact shock and cushions the point where a moving component meets a fixed surface. Molded to a compact, lightweight form at roughly a tenth of a pound, it takes the repeated knocks that would otherwise transfer straight into the frame or the parts mounted to it.

A bumper like this earns its place by wearing instead of the metal around it. Over a long duty cycle the material compresses, hardens, and eventually tears or flattens, at which point it stops damping the impact it was fitted to soften. Replacing it at that stage keeps the shock load off the chassis components behind it. As a Raymond part matched to the truck it was cataloged for, it drops into the same mounting location as the worn original with no modification, which keeps the repair a straight swap on the Raymond lift truck.
