Closing off the end of a hydraulic cylinder, this Raymond end cap contains working pressure and holds the internal assembly in place while the rod strokes in and out. It fixes onto the cylinder body as the base-end cap, giving the piston and rod seals a sealed chamber to work against.

End caps take the full brunt of pressure at the end of each stroke, and a cap with a compromised seal seat or corroded threads becomes a common source of external leaks and lost holding pressure. Replacing it restores a clean sealing surface and keeps the cylinder holding load.
