The ANL format uses a heavy fusible link between two bolt terminals rather than a plug-in body, which handles high amperage and resists the vibration that can loosen a blade-style fuse.

It protects wiring and downstream components by opening when current exceeds its rating, guarding against the heat and fire risk of a sustained overload or a short. A blown fuse is a one-time sacrifice by design; once it opens it is replaced, not reset.
