Cascade Sideshifter Wear Strip 204187 – CE-1004

Cascade positions a replaceable wear strip between the fork carriage and the upper hook bar of a sideshifter, and part 204187 is that strip, the sacrificial surface that takes the sliding friction so the machined structure above it does not. Roughly six inches long and about an inch and a quarter wide, it lines the interface where the attachment shifts laterally across the carriage.

In use the strip gives the upper hook bar a smooth, low-friction surface to ride against as the sideshifter travels side to side under load. It wears thinner with every cycle, and once it is worn the attachment develops play at the top hook and stops tracking squarely, the point at which the strip has reached the end of its service life. Renewing it restores the designed running clearance and shields the carriage bar and hook from the metal-to-metal wear that follows a worn strip.

Because Cascade cuts these strips to a specific length and thickness for a given frame, match the replacement to the strip coming off the sideshifter, since one cut short leaves a gap at the hook bar and one too thick binds the shift. Fitted correctly, part 204187 keeps the Cascade sideshifter tracking tight and square.
