Bushing – BS-1455

Riding between a pivot shaft and its bore, this bushing provides a replaceable low-friction sleeve that absorbs the wear a moving joint would otherwise put on the mating parts themselves. Pressed into the housing, it carries the load and the motion at a pivot point, keeping the joint tight while letting the shaft turn or slide freely.

Bushings are wear items by design, meant to be cheaper to replace than the components they protect, so a joint that has developed play is usually restored by renewing the bushing rather than the whole assembly. As wear progresses the joint loosens, and the resulting slop shows up as looseness or knocking in the linkage it supports.

Confirm the inner and outer diameter and the length against the bushing being removed, since a press-fit bushing must match both the bore it seats in and the shaft it carries to hold position and take load.
