A 24 volt relay switches a higher-current circuit using a low-current control signal, letting the truck's control system energize motors, contactors, lamps, or accessories without routing full load current through the switch or controller. This Raymond relay operates on a 24 volt coil, matched to the system voltage of the equipment it serves, and closes its contacts when that coil is energized.

Relays are a wear item at their contacts. Repeated switching under load pits and erodes the contact surfaces until the relay chatters, drops out, or fails to close, which shows up as an intermittent or dead circuit downstream. Replacing a failing relay restores reliable switching to the circuit it controls.

Match the coil voltage, contact rating, and terminal or socket configuration to the relay being replaced, since these determine whether it energizes correctly and drops into the same connection.
