Woodruff key (DIN 6888), size 005, for Raymond and Hyster lift trucks, the half-moon steel key that locks a hub, gear, or pulley to its shaft so the two turn together. Replace it when the key or its keyway is worn or sheared. A standard machined key sized to the shaft keyseat.
A woodruff key locks a hub, gear, or pulley to a shaft so the two turn together, and this semicircular steel key serves that role on Raymond and Hyster lift trucks. The key seats in a semicircular slot cut in the shaft and engages the keyway in the hub, transmitting torque so the hub cannot slip under load.
Under an overload the key shears or rounds off, at which point the hub spins on the shaft and no longer drives, so it is replaced whenever the joint is opened for service or when a slipping hub shows the key has already failed. It is built to the DIN 6888 half-moon key form and sized to the shaft keyseat, which is the dimension to match when fitting a replacement.
