Steering bearings support the steer axis on a lift truck, carrying the load and the turning motion where the steered wheel or steer axle pivots, so the truck steers smoothly under weight without play or binding. This bearing serves that steering position, the point that takes both the vertical load of the rear end and the constant back-and-forth of steering input.

A worn steering bearing shows up as steering that feels loose, notchy, or heavy, and as play that makes the truck wander, and replacing it restores tight, predictable steering response. Match the bore, outside diameter, and bearing type to the part being replaced, along with the seal or shield arrangement, since steering bearings of the same family differ in these details and the fit governs whether the bearing carries the steer load correctly.
