Bearing Taper Cone – BR-951

The cone is the inner half of a tapered roller bearing, the machined inner race and its cage of tapered rollers that seat inside a matching cup to carry the load on a lift truck load wheel. Tapered geometry lets the bearing take both the radial weight of the load and the side thrust the wheel sees in turns, which is why load wheels run taper bearings rather than straight ball bearings.

A cone that has spun, pitted, or lost its rollers is replaced together with its cup, since the two wear as a matched pair and a new cone on an old cup fails early. Match the cone to its cup and to the load wheel axle it presses onto, since taper cones are sized to a specific bore and are not interchangeable across bearing series.
