Raymond builds this caster shaft as the axle a caster wheel and its bearings rotate around at the base of a lift truck, where it locates the caster within the load and stability wheel arrangement. It takes the vertical load passed down through the wheel and holds the bearing bores in true alignment so the caster rolls square as the truck maneuvers.

Because the wheel turns on it constantly under load, the shaft wears at its bearing surfaces and retention features over time, and a worn or scored shaft lets the caster develop play that accelerates bearing and tire wear. A sound replacement restores concentric, secure mounting for the caster it carries.

Match the axle diameter and length, along with the bearing bores and retention grooves, to the shaft coming out, since these govern whether the caster and its bearings seat and are held the same way.
