Inside the mast of a Raymond lift truck, this pulley acts as the chain sheave that carries the lift chain over its bearing as the carriage rises and falls. Its grooved rim seats the chain and keeps it running true, distributing the lifting load across the sheave and easing the friction of every raise and lower.

The sheave is a wear point in the hoist system. When its bearing wears or the groove flattens and widens, chain travel grows rough, the chain can track poorly, and load handling becomes less predictable. Renewing the sheave returns smooth chain routing and helps protect the lift chain and the surrounding mast hardware from the accelerated wear a worn pulley causes.

Match the sheave's outside diameter, bore, and groove profile to the pulley being replaced, since the groove has to suit the chain size and the bore has to seat on its existing bearing or shaft to run true.
