Every pound a Raymond mast lifts passes through its lift chain, and this Raymond roller chain replaces the worn chain in that load path, running over the mast sheave to tie the hydraulic lift cylinder to the carriage. The chain converts cylinder stroke into carriage travel, so its condition directly governs how safely and smoothly the forks raise.

Lift chain elongates as its pins and plate bores wear, and a chain past its stretch limit rides high on the sheave and carries reduced strength, which is why it is replaced as a full length once elongation crosses the wear limit. As a Raymond component it is built to the truck's original chain specification. Match the pitch and plate configuration to the chain being replaced, since chains of similar appearance but different pitch will not track correctly on the existing sheave.
