Crown's tiller harness carries the electrical connections between the tiller handle and the truck's main control system on its walkie and rider pallet truck lines, routing the wiring an operator's tiller controls depend on through the steering column and into the body of the truck. Every switch, thumb control, and safety interlock built into the tiller handle relies on this harness to get its signal to the controller.

Because the tiller pivots through a wide range of motion every time the operator steers, the harness inside it flexes constantly during normal use, far more than a stationary wiring run elsewhere on the truck. That repeated flexing is what eventually wears this class of harness, showing up as insulation cracking at the pivot point, a broken conductor, or an intermittent connection that comes and goes as the tiller moves.
